Kmart Helps Take Country to Another Dimension with Sponsorship of Kenny Chesney 'Summer in 3D' Movie

Limited Engagement Theatrical Release Rolls Out in Select Markets

Kenny Chesney is one of the world's hottest music stars, so it's natural he's teaming up with Kmart to bring fans one of the hottest entertainment trends: a 3D movie. The highly anticipated theatrical concert release of "Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D" will, fittingly, premiere in Las Vegas on April 17, the same weekend as the 45th-annual Academy of Country Music Awards. In the Kmart-sponsored national theatrical release, moviegoers will get a unique opportunity to experience an artist who sells out stadiums around the world and has notched 19 No. 1 songs from the front row, the wings, the Goodyear blimp and even onstage.

Shot in 3D over seven nights in six locations, Boston, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Seattle, during his 2009 Sun City Carnival Tour, his latest concert tour. Even though he's taking a year off from his intense touring schedule to - in part - finish this movie and record his next record, "Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D" means fans don't have to miss a summer with the man who brings their lives to life.

"When you combine state-of-the-art movie technology and one of country's most exciting performers, it's the kind of entertainment event that's going to make waves," said Karen Austin, president of Home Electronics for Sears Holdings. "In the next 10 to 15 years, 3D will be part of everything we do, whether it's sports, concerts or gaming, and Kmart will be in the forefront of supporting this technology."

Three-D movie technology has brought moviegoers into the deepest shark-infested seas and as high as the peak of Everest, and now it's taking them onstage to experience the man who has sold in excess of a million tickets each of the past eight summers. Today's 3D technology and user experience is unlike anything ever seen before. Featuring stereo image processing systems and the latest 3D image-scaling technologies, "Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D" used 22 camera rigs to capture the most immersive event possible for the star's devoted fan base.

"When we started making this film, I wanted to create something that felt like what we do live," explains Kenny Chesney, the four consecutive year Academy of Country Music award winner and four-time Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year. "3D gave us the opportunity to not just let fans relive what was a very special summer for us, but to literally know how it feels to be a part of the show!"

The limited engagement of seven shows will run in select theaters nationwide from April 21 to May 2, in addition to the Las Vegas premiere on April 17. The movie was produced by The Hot Ticket, the Sony Pictures Releasing special programming division. Go to www.thehotticket.net/kennychesney/ for more details on theater locations.

To find more music by Kenny, including his latest CDs, Greatest Hits and Greatest Hits II, consumers can stop by their local Kmart nationwide.
