Sears Announces Santa-Themed Contest With Prizes Worth up to $15,000 This Holiday Season

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Nov. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- In the spirit of the holidays, Sears today announced an offering for customers to win up to $15,000 in prizes through "Be the Santa You Want to Be" contests. Sears is asking customers how they need help this Holiday season from the Sears santa personalities: savvysanta, santamazing, powersanta, santabulous and procrastisanta.

Whether customers shop early for the holidays or prefer to purchase gifts for charity, Sears wants to hear their story. Customers can enter any of the contests by visiting and interested participants can find more information on the santa personalities at or the .

Savvysanta is the first phase in the contest, which begins Tuesday, Nov. 2 and ends Tuesday, Nov. 9. savvysanta is looking for stories from customers who need to have an early Christmas. Whether customers shop early for loved ones departing overseas or they enjoy beating the holiday rush, the winner will receive a $5,000 Sears shopping spree.

In addition to the savvysanta phase, customers are encouraged to participate in the following subsequent phases running now into December:

    --  santamazing : Sears wants to know which of the children's charities that
        santamazing supports should get a $5,000 donation this Holiday.
        Participants choose a charity from the list and tell why they think they
        deserve to win. The winning entry will receive a $250 Sears gift card
        and have $5,000 donated to the charity. This phase runs Nov. 10 to Nov.
        16.
    --  powersanta: Nothing can slow powersanta down from taking advantage of
        the early deals. Customers can tell Sears how they prepare for Black
        Friday for a chance to win a $3,000 pre-opening power shopping spree
        with powersanta. Customers can enter for the chance to win from Nov. 17
        to Nov. 23.
    --  santabulous: Participants are encouraged to explain why their family is
        in need of a "look great, give great" Sears family style makeover and
        portrait with a stylist and photographer. This phase will run from Nov.
        24 to Nov. 30.
    --  procrastisanta: Think you've missed your chance to get that perfect gift
        or can't catch that flight home? Customers can share how they need help
        to make their ideal Christmas happen. The winner will receive up to
        $15,000 worth of prizes. Participants can enter this phase of the
        contest from Dec.1 to Dec. 7.
