The Great Indoors Sponsors the Cisco Internet Home

The Great Indoors(SM) will sponsor the Internet Home, a fully functioning home that incorporates broadband connectivity, Internet-enabled appliances, home networking products and services such as the Cisco Internet Home Gateway and an Internet-enabled kitchen.

Located at Cisco's headquarters in San Jose, Calif., the 1,700-square-foot Internet Home showcases the benefits of a high-speed, always-on Internet connection that enables an array of consumer devices and appliances in the home. The home is intended to allow residential developers, home builders, service providers and enabling partners to learn more about the benefits of an Internet Home and to obtain information on how they can become involved in creating Internet Home products and services.

The Great Indoors has supplied a variety of products to the Internet Home, including furniture, lighting, carpeting, home electronics, small appliances and home furnishings.

Benefits of the Internet Home include services such as video on demand for entertainment and educational purposes; energy and security monitoring; personal and family management and simultaneous Internet access from multiple personal computers or Internet appliances.

"We view this sponsorship as an extension of our existing builder business," said Robert R. Rodgers, president, The Great Indoors. "We anticipate the early adopters of the Internet Connected Home will fit well with our existing customer base. The market for Internet Connected products and services is reaching a critical mass -- you're already seeing it with consumers' demand for broadband access."

"Our relationship with The Great Indoors further strengthens our efforts to make the 'Internet Lifestyle' a reality," said Mike Moone, group vice president and general manager, Cisco's Consumer Line of Business. "The Great Indoors has a strong consumer presence and we are delighted to be working with them to further educate homeowners on the benefits of a networked home."

The Great Indoors offers more than 50,000 different products, 75 vignette room displays, thousands of lamps and rugs and hundreds of appliances.
