California Ready to Discover The Great Indoors

The Country's Newest Home Decor and Remodeling Stores to Open In Chino Hills and Irvine

Los Angeles-area residents soon will discover everything they need to decorate or remodel their home when the newest The Great Indoors stores open in Chino Hills and Irvine, California in the summer of 2001.

"The Great Indoors offers everything you need for all your remodeling and decorating needs under one roof," said Bob Rodgers, president of The Great Indoors. "This store was designed by our customer. We've done extensive market research and built a store in response to our customer's desire for the convenience of one-stop shopping when she's decorating and remodeling her home."

The Great Indoors is organized around the four main rooms of the home -- kitchen, bath, bedroom and the great room -- with a fifth area devoted to floors and walls. The new store will showcase approximately 75 lifestyle vignettes with more 50,000 items to help customers visualize solutions for their own rooms. Customers also will find a vast assortment of well-known brands at the store including Bosch, Bose, Calphalon, Corian, Croscill, Karastan, KitchenAid, Kohler, Thermador and Waverly.

The Chino Hills store will be the first The Great Indoors in California when it opens in the summer of 2001. Irvine also will open in the summer 2001. The stores will be approximately 140,000 square feet each. Nearly 300 employees will be hired for each store.

The Great Indoors debuted in 1998, opening its first store in the Denver area. The Great Indoors is a unit of Sears, Roebuck and Co., a leading U.S. retailer of apparel, home and automotive products and services, with annual revenue of nearly $40 billion.
