Kmart Announces Human Resources Executive Appointments

Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM) today announced the appointments of John Rocholl, Vice President Corporate Human Resources; Lyman Locket, Vice President Corporate Diversity; Kathy Spinelli, Vice President Organizational Development and Training and Don Morford, Divisional Vice President Compensation and Benefit Administration. All four positions report directly to Michael T. Macik, Executive Vice President Human Resources, effective immediately.

Rocholl joined Kmart in 1981 and held a variety of field and headquarters positions including Director of Corporate Human resources. In his new position Rocholl will be responsible for Human Resource policy and procedures, business services and recruitment.

Locket will oversee all Human Resource initiatives related to diversity in the newly-created position. Locket was appointed Director, Corporate Diversity in August 2001.

Spinelli will manage the company's Human Resource training and organizational effectiveness. Previously, Spinelli managed all Human Resource services for Kmart's merchandise divisions.

Morford will be responsible for employee compensation, benefits, retirement and administration.

"John, Lyman, Kathy and Don bring a wealth of experience in the area of human resource management to our team. Their new positions will enable each of them to better develop Kmart's human capital as the company continues to move through its reorganization," said Macik.
