Sears Teams Up With Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope

Consumer Donations at Sears Stores to Benefit The Boomer Esiason Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis

Sears, Roebuck and Co. has joined a team fighting to find a cure for cystic fibrosis.

In partnership with Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope, a charity benefiting children and families, Sears has launched a major promotion that will support the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. From October 1 through November 30, 2002 Samsung will make a donation to the Boomer Esiason Foundation for every Samsung TV purchased at a Sears store.

The Sears effort is one leg of Samsung's Four Season's of Hope, a year-round national goodwill program that brings together four of the world's greatest sports legends -- golf's Arnold Palmer, football's Boomer Esiason, baseball's Joe Torre and basketball's Magic Johnson -- for a unique, retail program that aims to improve the quality of life for children and their families who face major challenges.

The Boomer Esiason Foundation to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis was created by Boomer Esiason and his wife in 1993 after their son was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. The foundation works to raise money to find a cure for the genetic disease. To date, more than $12 million has been raised for the cause. Samsung and Sears will donate money to the foundation during Super Bowl week in January 2003.

"Samsung is honored to be teamed with such a valued partner as Sears to support the important work to that is being done by the Boomer Esiason Foundation in the effort the find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis," said Peter Weedfald, vice president, strategic marketing & new media, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "This is a true partnership at the highest level with companies working together to help their communities and a good cause."

"Sears has a long tradition of supporting organizations related to the home and family and we're very pleased to work with one of our best business partners on such a worthy cause. I applaud Samsung for establishing the Four Seasons of Hope," said Ray Brown, vice president, consumer electronics for Sears. "And Boomer Esiason deserves a huge amount of credit for his untiring efforts to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis. We're proud to be associated with this cause."

In addition to establishing the in-store promotion with Samsung's Four Seasons of Hope, Sears today presented the Boomer Esiason Foundation with a check for $10,000 to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis.
