Sears Names Top 1 Percent of Suppliers as Partners in Progress

Sears, Roebuck's offices were brimming with animated visitors and an atmosphere of celebration on April 12 when the company hosted a special event to honor its top suppliers as Partners in Progress for 2004.

The prestigious Partners in Progress award is presented annually to a select group of supplier companies -- only the top 1 percent -- that provide Sears, Roebuck and Co. with quality products and services, from apparel, appliances and tools to marketing, facilities design and technology. More than 10,000 sources competed for this award.

The winning companies were hosted by Sears Holdings Corporation Vice Chairman and CEO Alan J. Lacy at the Sears headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

"Strong and productive supplier relationships are critical to the achievement of our business goals. We're pleased to have the opportunity, through the Partners in Progress program, to recognize the Sears suppliers who have gone the extra mile to support our company over the past year," said Lacy.

Started more than 20 years ago, the Partners in Progress program recognizes sources for quality, innovation, overall market performance and diversity. The winners were selected from nominations submitted by Sears' employees who purchase goods and services for the company.
