Sears and the National Urban League to Launch Donation Effort

Sears Invites Customers to Donate to the National Urban League in Stores Starting Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Sears, Roebuck and Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ: SHLD), today announced a partnership with the National Urban League (NUL) in which Sears will accept customer and associate contributions to advance the NUL mission of helping African American families.

Beginning on January 16, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, and in commemoration of Black History Month, Sears will invite customers and associates to make donations at its 926 full-line, Sears Essentials and Sears Grand stores nationwide to benefit the National Urban League and its more than 100 affiliates nationwide. The program will run through February 28, 2006.

All of the donations will help further the National Urban League's mission of enabling African American families to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights through hands-on community programs, advocacy and research. The partnership is an extension of Sears' existing commitment to the National Urban League, including a $500,000 contribution over the past three years.

"Starting on the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, we invite our customers and associates to join us by making a donation to the National Urban League at their local Sears store," said Aylwin B. Lewis, chief executive officer and president of Sears Holdings Corporation. "Giving to the National Urban League is a powerful way for us to strengthen our communities, celebrate Black History Month and honor Dr. King's dream."

"Sears is a long-standing partner of the National Urban League," said Marc H. Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League. "Our partnership with Sears will help raise awareness and funding to support our job training, home ownership, childhood literacy and other programs in communities across the country."

Sears' partnership with the National Urban League is part of the Sears American Dream Campaign's commitment to strengthening families, homes and communities.
