Sears Achieves “Genius Status” for its Work in the Digital Space

Sears is among three department stores to achieve "genius status" for its work in the digital space in a report released this month by . The two other retailers who achieved "genius status" are Nordstrom and Macy's.

The purpose of the study was to see how top department stores stack up in terms of e-commerce, mobile and social media. L2 analyzed Sears and other major department store brands based on more than 850 data points, including loyalty programs, merchandising, search, social media following and mobile app function. The brands were then ranked on a five-point scale, falling into five categories: feeble, challenged, average, gifted and genius. Sears' genius ranking was the highest of five rankings in the report.

We are very proud that our hard work is getting recognized in the industry. And more importantly, our efforts to transform our business through Integrated Retail and Shop Your Way continue to show traction as evidenced by the year-over-year increase of 18 percent in online and multi-channel sales we reported in our Q2 results. It's exciting when an objective third party recognizes the efforts we're making to move from a traditional retailer to a member-centric organization that leverages technology through Integrated Retail.

Congratulations to all the BUs across the organization that have worked so hard and have been instrumental in bringing these integrated capabilities to life.
