Kmart Receives the St. Jude Thanks and Giving Innovation Award

Kmart was recognized earlier this week as a recipient of the annual St. Jude Thanks and Giving Innovation Award. This award is granted to a corporate partner that has continuously added new and different innovative ideas to their fundraising campaign. Every year, Kmart goes above and beyond to continue raising funds and awareness for St. Jude.

This past holiday season, Kmart launched an “Ugly Sweater for Better” social media campaign asking people to show off their favorite ugly holiday sweaters in selfies, photos and videos while challenging others to do the same. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital received $1 for every qualifying Facebook, Instagram or Twitter post tagging @Kmart and @stjude with the campaign hashtag #UglySweaterforBetter. In 2017, Kmart associates and customers also helped raise more than $7 million for St. Jude!

“We at Kmart are extremely proud of our partnership with St. Jude. We have worked together to support the goal of eliminating childhood cancer, raising nearly $113 million since 2006. Every day, since we had the opportunity to meet with the St. Jude family on campus in Memphis, my Kmart colleagues and I have realized how lucky we truly are,” says Head of Retail Services – Kmart and Sears, Gareth Glynne. “It is a privilege that we can work for this fabulous cause. It is a privilege that we can work to make a real difference through our fundraising and it is a privilege that we can continue to partner with St. Jude to help end childhood cancer.”

Congratulations to all the teams who worked hard to make the St. Jude “Ugly Sweater for Better” campaign a success.
